PLANNING YOUR VISIT

The Art of the Brick: DC Super Heroes is located in the South Bank region of London, by the river Thames. The exhibition is in a purpose built tent on Upper Ground, directly behind the National Theatre and the BFI, and next door to the Rambert Ballet Company. It located near the Coca-Cola London Eye, Sea Life London Aquarium, and the London Dungeon. It is a short walk over Westminster Bridge from Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament, as well as by taking Waterloo Bridge from Covent Garden and the West End. The venue is easily accessible via public transport.

Getting here:

Public Transport

Trains

The nearest overground train station is Waterloo. From Waterloo follow the exit signs for the National Theatre and walk first towards the Royal Festival Hall. Turn right on to Upper Ground behind the Royal Festival Hall, and you will find us on the right.

 

Charing Cross train station is also a short walk over the river from the exhibition. From Charing Cross take the exit next to platform 1 for Hungerford Bridge; go over the bridge walk along the river promenade until you pass the National Theatre, where you turn right into Upper Ground.

Tube

The nearest tube stations are Westminster and Waterloo. Westminster tube is on the Circle, Jubilee and District lines. From Westminster, exit onto Westminster Bridge (Exit 1) and then cross over the Bridge. Walk along the promenade until you pass the National Theatre, and turn right into Upper Ground.

 

Waterloo tube is on the Northern, Bakerloo, Waterloo & City lines. From Waterloo follow the exit signs for the Southbank Centre, and walk first towards the Royal Festival Hall. Turn right on to Upper Ground behind the Royal Festival Hall, and you will find us on the right.

Bus

There are a large number of bus services that service the Waterloo or Westminster Bridge area. For Westminster Bridge Road, take the 12, 53, 59, 76, 148, 159, 211 or 341. For Belvedere Road take the 77 or RV1. For York Road (next to Waterloo Station) take the 211, 77 or 381.

 

Many other buses stop in Waterloo Road, and include 1,4, 26, X68, 76, 168, 171, 172, 176, 188, 243, 507 and 638.
All the London sightseeing buses also pick up and drop off at these points.

Coach drop-off points are the ramp that is just alongside Waterloo Bridge, as well as in Belvedere Road underneath Waterloo Bridge. Please be aware that coaches cannot stop to unload in Upper Ground or Cornwall Road.

 

You will need a 20 minute pick up/drop off permit that can be obtained by phoning 0870 990 8886 (calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras).

 

RIVER

 

MBNA Thames Clippers stop at London Eye Pier every 20 minutes throughout the day, just a short walk from the exhibition.

This River Bus service stops at 21 piers across London including Westminster, London Bridge, Tower, Canary Wharf, Greenwich and North Greenwich.

CAR

Please be aware of the central London Congestion Charge, which typically runs from Monday-Friday.
